Lifesavers
We are delighted that our school is part of the LifeSavers programme.
LifeSavers supports primary schools in setting up savings clubs, and helping children and their families learn about money.
LifeSavers aims to equip our pupils with the knowledge, skills, attitudes and experiences to manage money well, now and in the future. Throughout the academic year we explore Five Big Questions About Money. We also explore four core values around money: thankfulness, wisdom, justice and generosity.
We invite pupils to join our Super Savers school savings club. The savings club is provided in partnership with the Central Liverpool Credit Union and provide real life, hands-on money experiences for your children to help them develop into financially confident young people. Our Savings Club is run by our own Y6 pupil cashiers following a rigorous application process.

This half term in Life Savers, we have been exploring the question, ‘Where does our money come from?’. We discussed roles that are paid and unpaid and what volunteering is.

This week we have been learning all about money. We have focused on how we can save money. We had lots of whole class discussions about different way we can save money, we had lots of different ideas!
LIFESAVERS WEEK
‘What does it mean to be charitable?’
Year 4 discussed the importance of being charitable. We researched different charities and the important work they do.
5M ‘Wear your PJs to school’ day!
Today we raised money for Alder Hey children’s hospital and also celebrated our Attendance achievement with a pizza party and a movie, all whilst wearing our pyjamas!

We had some really interesting conversations about how your money can go a long way and can help a lot of people, when we choose to spend or donate it!

Its lovely to see our year 1 children saving money each week. Our year 6 cashiers are doing a great job.

What can we use our money for?
We discussed how often we consider our life saver values when we make a financial decision and shared ideas of how to be generous, thankful and wise with money.
Many of our children said that they believe they should save for the things they want but only after spending on the things they need. Some said that they would like to give more to charity too.

Year 3 have been working hard all week to earn ‘money’ for our Lifesavers lesson. During the lesson they had to decide what to spend their hard earned money on, things they need or things they want. We then discussed if they could save any of their money.
