🎉 Stockton Wood Shines as a Centre of Excellence Once Again! 🎉
We are absolutely delighted to share some wonderful news — following our IQM review in June 2026, Stockton Wood has once again retained its prestigious status as an IQM Centre of Excellence! 🌟
This fantastic achievement recognises the dedication, care and teamwork shown by everyone across our school community — our children, staff, parents and partners — who all play such an important role in making Stockton Wood a truly inclusive, welcoming and nurturing place to learn.
The Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM) recognises schools that place inclusion at the heart of school life, ensuring that children are valued, supported and given the opportunity to reach their full potential. Our latest review highlighted the very strong culture of inclusion at Stockton Wood, praising our commitment to understanding our community and removing barriers to success for our pupils and families.
Over the past year, we have continued to strengthen our inclusive practice. Staff have developed their understanding of autism and neurodiversity, with strategies such as visual timetables, structured routines, sensory support, adaptive teaching and pupil passports becoming embedded across school.
We have also continued to enrich our curriculum through Spanish, global learning and international links, helping our children develop their confidence, broaden their understanding of the world and celebrate different cultures and experiences.
The assessor was particularly impressed by our calm and welcoming learning environment, extensive outdoor provision, strong focus on language development, and the pride and enthusiasm demonstrated by our pupils. Our children were described as motivated, engaged and able to explain what inclusion means and how they can help to include others.
We are incredibly proud that the review confirmed that Stockton Wood fully meets the standard required to maintain its Centre of Excellence status, with the assessor recommending that we retain the award for another year.
Of course, our journey doesn’t stop here! Over the next year, we will continue to develop adaptive teaching, Early Years interactions, pupil wellbeing and attendance, ensuring that our inclusive ethos continues to grow and that every child has the support they need to thrive.
