Our aim is to ensure that every child feels happy, safe, respected and successful as they progress through school and prepare for the future.

Mrs Kent oversees SEND provision across the school and works closely with pupils, parents, staff and external agencies to ensure children receive the support they need.

Our SEND Governor works alongside the SENDCo to monitor and evaluate SEND provision across the school. Together they review:

How We Support Children with SEND
We follow the SEND Code of Practice and use a graduated approach to identifying and supporting children’s needs.
The Graduated Approach
Our four-stage cycle ensures support is carefully planned and regularly reviewed:

We identify strengths, needs and any barriers to learning.
📝 Plan
We work with parents, pupils and staff to plan appropriate support.
🎯 Do
The agreed support, intervention and reasonable adjustments are put in place.
🔄 Review
Progress is monitored and support is adapted as needed.
Quality First Teaching
At Stockton Wood, every teacher is a teacher of SEND.
High-quality classroom teaching is the foundation of our provision. Staff carefully adapt teaching, resources and learning environments to ensure all children can access the curriculum and achieve success.
This may include:

✅ Assistive technology and specialist resources
✅ Additional adult support where appropriate

Areas of SEND Need
Support may be provided across the four broad areas identified in the SEND Code of Practice:
💬 Communication and Interaction
Supporting children with speech, language and communication needs, including autism.
📚 Cognition and Learning
Supporting children who may learn at a different pace or require additional strategies to access learning.
❤️ Social, Emotional and Mental Health
Supporting emotional wellbeing, self-regulation, confidence and resilience.
🧩 Sensory and/or Physical Needs
Supporting children with sensory processing, physical disabilities or medical needs.

Working with Families
We recognise that parents and carers know their children best.
We are committed to developing strong partnerships with families and will:

Pupil voice is equally important, and we actively encourage children to share their thoughts, aspirations and views about their learning and support.
