This week we have started learning all about Chinese New year ! Today we have made our own Chinese dragons, ready for a parade.

Awarded Superkind Change-maker certificates today for their heart-felt posters to raise awareness of World hunger.

Chinese New Year
This morning, we have started our Chinese New Year Celebrations! We talked about all the special things that are done during this festival, and we found out the red is a special colour: it brings good luck! We used our fine motor skills to thread gold ribbon through our own red envelope and added a special coin 😋

Year 6- Dogs Trust Assembly
Year 6 found the Dogs Trust assembly very beneficial, as it taught them how to approach a dog safely and what to do if an unknown dog approaches them.

Year 6 DT- Making pizza
6B planned and created their own pizzas, using skills such as kneading, chopping and mixing.

People who help us🚒
This week we have been learning about people who help us, “Real life superhero’s!” 🦸♀️We visited the local fire station and had lots of fun learning all about the role of firefighters 🚒.










Kapla Blocks !
This week for DT Week, we used the Kapla Blocks to build the fire station which we had visited. 🚒







Stay and Learn
Thank you to all our families who joined us for stay and learn this morning! It was a huge success and the children really love welcoming their families into their classroom. We made our own dough, made some porridge and tasted it just like Goldilocks, cutting and sticking, and fine motor activities. The children really enjoyed it and we hope you did too 🥰

Winter Planting
Today in science we planted some seeds, we are very excited to watch them grow. Today we looked at the words: flower, stem, leaf and roots.







Lean on Me 5H
5H have been enjoying learning Lean on Me by Bill Withers during our singing lessons.



Visit to ‘the park’
We enjoyed visiting the new ‘park’ today! We conquered some fears (because crossing a wobbly bridge is much scarier than it looks sometimes!), and used our core muscles to help us keep our balance. We had 2 children who initially wouldn’t cross the bridge, but with some encouragement, they not only did it with help, but they then did it all by themselves! We create safe opportunities for children to take risk 🥰







Year 2 Partnership week
We have partnered with a school from Doha and will continue to link up with them. This time we read stories to each other’s class and will review them for one another.



Year 2 Computing
This half term we are working with Mr Moffat to show how computers show data and information. This week we made pictograms of the classes favourite fruits.


Year 2 PE
This half term we are learning Net and Wall games skills like tennis and volleyball. We learnt that even when the ball is not in our possession we need to be ready to receive it and need to protect our space.


Year 2 English
We have received another top secret book! We made predictions on what we think the book will be about.


3M MFL
3M started their new French topic today – Les Fruites. We learned the French name for some common fruits.





PE- Gymnastics








During our PE lesson today we were learning how to move our bodies in different ways. We had to create different letters using our body such as ‘L,I,S,V,O’.




Boccia


These week we had a group of Key Stage 2 children take part in a Boccia competition.

Forest fun
We’ve explored our forest this morning! We played hide and seek behind the trees! We had to be careful not to trip!





Pancake Day
Reception have been learning about Shrove Tuesday. To celebrate we made pancakes. Our toppings included: strawberries, lemon, sugar, syrup and cream.


























Year One – RE
We have been retelling the story of Palm Sunday and talking about why it is important to Christians. Look at our lovely Palm leaves.




Y2 Science Week
Today we worked with Mr Moffatt to explore Indi robots and how they move- we worked out how to use the base boards to make it move in different directions.

We enjoyed having Knowsley Safari in this week to teach us about the dangers of plastic for animals




Neurodiversity Celebration Week
17th – 23rd March 2025
Next week children from Year 1 to Year 6 will be taking part in activities focussing on the celebration of neurodiversity. The children will learn about Autism, Dyslexia, ADHD and Dyspraxia, as well as other diversities. Your child may come home from school with questions and facts as we celebrate all of the positive aspect of being Neurodivergent! If you have any questions please speak to your child’s class teacher or Mrs Kent (SENCo).

Science week
We are enjoying celebrating Science week! We’ve learnt lots of new things…did you know, if you put double cream into a pot and shake, shake, shake and shake some more…it turns into butter!!! We each made our own butter, then spread it on to some crackers to enjoy for snack. Isn’t science amazing 🤩







Science Week, Day 3.
Today we have had lots of fun doing a science experiment about the weather. We have learnt about the rain and got to be scientists and experiment it all on our own.







Neurodiversity Celebration Week
A huge thank you to Mr Boyd for hanging our neurodiversity umbrellas! Neurodiversity is an umbrella term used to refer to all of the different ways of thinking. This week the children are learning about Autism, Dyslexia, ADHD and Dyspraxia. Ask your child if they know any famous people who are neurodivergant!




Year 6- PJ day raising money for Alder Hey Hospital
The Year 6 children loved coming to school today in their Pyjamas to help raise money for our chosen charity- Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.

Fire Champions at LFC
Yesterday year 5 had a wonderful time at LFC taking part in the fire champions programme. We learned a lot of valuable skills on how to stay state in our and community and at home.



Fire Champions Fun at Anfield
Year 5 learnt so much about staying safe in our community through fun activities, with the emergency services at Anfield! How exciting!
We are now officially Fire Champions ambassadors!

We worked with a partner to solve as many of the arithmetic questions we could find! A fun way to revise our mathematical strategies!

Science in the sun!
3McK had a great afternoon planting seeds for our science experiment! We will be measuring their height over the next 4 weeks!




Y2 DT Week- wheels and axles
DT week in Y2 has been so much fun! We have researched and designed vehicles to collect rubbish on the beach- we have painted, used a saw and attached our axles and wheels to our vehicles using different methods to make our vehicles.





If you were an engineer, what would you do – competition!
These children have celebrated their engineering success, having received a certificate from Primary Engineer for their amazing invention entries.
They received a grading of Pass, Merit or Distinction and those that received Distinction Shortlisted, were in the final to become an overall winner!

Sports Day
We had a fantastic morning at our sports day with our wonderful families! We cheered for all of our friends, and are so proud of each other. Even our families enjoyed a race or two…although they are a little bit more competitive than us 😉 thank you for coming everyone 🥰

The Natural World 🌎
Reception have been exploring and understanding the natural world this week!












Y2 computing
We combined text and graphics today to share information about our History learning. We enjoyed retrieving facts about Mary Seacole and Florence Nightingale.




Year One – Maths
Wonderful counting in tens and ones today using a range of practical resources! Good use of 100 squares to record the final answers.




The Seaside
This week reception have been exploring the seaside and animals under the sea. Our new English text The Storm Whale has inspired us! Using pastels we coloured different animals that we find under the sea. We traced the patterns to help us improve our fine motor skills!












Music Performances
On Wednesday, Year 3 got the opportunity to preform what they have learnt so far on the Keyboards!






Making marks, making mess…and making memories!



The children absolutely LOVED getting messy today, and practised making marks in the foam. It seemed to get into all sorts of places, including on some of our faces! Our Nursery smelt amazing afterwards 🥰

Science Investigation
We planned an experiment to find out if the duration of exercise affects our heart rate. We had to think about independent, dependent and controlled variables to ensure that it was a fair test. We used stopwatches to time our heart beats per minute and recorded our results. We discovered that the longer the duration of exercise, the higher the heart rate ❤️ We are now exhausted 😆

Year 2 P.E
This week we practiced batting and fielding skills, we had to work on batting the ball into a space no one was guarding. Our other friends had to work on finding space and being ready to catch at any time.



Aspirations Week
In Class 6MR, we have a designer, a teacher, a gymnast, a Thai boxer, a nail technician and a dance teacher! We also had footballers and engineers! Whatever you aspire to be in the future, do it with kindness and care!

Y2 Aspirations Week
Today, as part of aspirations week, Year 2 met with Kate and Josh who are paramedics… they told us all about their job and let us look at the equipment they use.









Community is a Superpower
Y6 were inspired by Mrs Clovis’ assembly during refugee week. They thought about all the people who have to flee their own countries, looking for a safe place for themselves and their children. They designed some posters to show how communities can bring people together; bridge divides and offer support and safe spaces. Community is the incredible everyday. Simple acts of shared generosity and kindness can become an unstoppable force.

Aspirations Week – A Life in Football
Years 3, 4 and 5 really enjoyed hearing Mr Jones talking about a range of different careers there are in Football. It was really interesting to hear about how hard he worked to be a professional footballer!




Aspirations Week
This week we have been thinking about all of the amazing things we can do when we grow up. On Monday, we were able to come to school dressed as something that we think we’d like to be when we are bigger! We had some doctors, nurses, an explorer, police officers, fire fighters…we had such a lovely day talking about the important jobs.




Aspirations week – Lawyer
Year 5 had a wonderful session this morning with a lawyer named Collette.
Some fantastic questions were asked and answered, resulting in many of our children now liking the idea of becoming a lawyer.


Binary Pixel Art


This week in Computing we have been learning about binary and how we can use that to create pixel art.

Y2 Quidditch!
2D loved taking part in quidditch today; we practised our team games skills, working together and communicating to catch the Golden Snitch.










Painting ~ Year 4

On Monday we started art week by using watercolours to mix secondary and tertiary colours.

Bike Right
Reception had fun learning to ride bikes safely. We used the safety helmets to keep ourselves safe. They had lots of fun playing different games when riding the bikes!











Making wraps!
Yesterday, we made our own wraps at snack time! We named smelt the ingredients first, and talked about whether we had already tried them before. We had the chance to taste each ingredient before deciding whether we would like them on our wrap. And then the fun part…we had to make our wrap! It was trickier than we expected 😉









Art week – Painting!
This week we have been painting in year 5.
We have studied the artist Frida Kahlo and painted portraits that incorporate her vibrant style, taking influence from Frida to create a colour contrast.








Y5/6 Cricket Tournament
A huge well done to all those children who represented Stockton Wood at the cricket tournament this afternoon. They demonstrated a positive and resilient attitude and came 2nd place.
