Information for Parents
Stockton Wood is a Restorative School. In Year 2 we use emojis to check-in to share how we are feeling and this helps us to manage our feelings.
The children are looking forward to a great year of learning, including listening to stories by new authors, learning outdoors, exploring the world around them as scientists and being physically active.
Class Dojos are used to celebrate achievements and praise efforts!
Year 2 Timetable
2D P.E Day:
2G P.E. Day:
P.E. kit includes: a plain pale blue t-shirt, navy shorts/ jogging bottoms and a pair
of black pumps or trainers to take part in PE. Your child can come to school
wearing their P.E. kit on their class day.
General Reminders
Reading is at the heart of everything we do, so please try and read with your
child every night. Ask them questions about what they have read, encouraging them to talk about the book, whether it is a story or non-fiction. This will help them with their reading comprehension.
Reading books are changed weekly, but your class teacher
can change your book again if you have been a reading enthusiast at home!
Your child can bring a water bottle to school, containing water only.
Look out for our homework matrix! These activities will explore our wider curriculum, offer creative challenges and an opportunity to earn dojos!

Skills, strength and discipline – Military Martial Arts at Stockton Wood!
British Military Martial Arts, Little Soldiers / Cadets (4-11) sessions will be held in our school hall on a Friday 3:20 – 4pm.
Our children enjoyed demonstrating some of the skills taught in those sessions during today’s assembly and many of them are keen to join.
For more information or to book a trial session, please contact the team.

📢 School Council Elections – Friday 18th September! 📢

As discussed both in classes and in assembly, if you would like to stand for school council this year, please prepare a short speech explaining why you would make a great school councillor.
Think about the great qualities you have, how you would represent your classmates and the ideas and enthusiasm you could bring to our school councillor meetings.
Write your speech at home and bring it to school on Friday, ready for the elections!
Good luck to everyone who puts themselves forward! 🤞
Democracy is one of our British Values. School council allows our children to have a voice, vote, share ideas and work together. 🤩

PSHE/SCARF
This week in scarf we talked about helping others. We guided our friends to various locations around the playground whilst using helpful language to guide them. It was difficult to place our trust in others but sometimes we need to in order achieve our goals.

DT week
We had a fabulous time during DT week creating our own eco friendly wheeled toys. Here we are with some of our finished products.
