📢 School Council Elections – Friday 18th September! 📢

As discussed both in classes and in assembly, if you would like to stand for school council this year, please prepare a short speech explaining why you would make a great school councillor.
Think about the great qualities you have, how you would represent your classmates and the ideas and enthusiasm you could bring to our school councillor meetings.

Write your speech at home and bring it to school on Friday, ready for the elections!

School Council Election – Y4

We had seven brave pupils nominate themselves and read aloud their letters of application to become 4J’s councillor. All children had the opportunity to vote and the winner will be announced on Monday!

4M School Council Elections

So proud of 4M this week! 🤩 From only a few children wanting to stand for School Council to 13 children bravely stepping outside their comfort zone to deliver a speech! 👏

Every child then had the opportunity to vote and have their voice heard, demonstrating our RISE values and democracy.

Update: Results will now be announced on Wednesday in assembly…good luck! 🤞

5D School council candidates 🤩👏

Well done to all of our wonderful children in 5D who put themselves forward for the School Council. Their speeches were fantastic, and any one of them would make a wonderful representative for our school. We are so proud of them all!

5D – PSHE

In PSHE, we have been looking at what makes a good friend. This week, we used role play to create freeze frames based on different scenarios that might occur in friendships. The children were very creative, and their freeze frames told a clear story!

5D computing 💻🪐

This week, 5D have been creating their own databases full of fascinating information about Space. They have worked incredibly hard to organise, input and present their information clearly, creating some fantastic and beautifully presented databases!

This learning has also linked closely with our English work, where we have been writing about Mars. The children have enjoyed researching and collecting interesting facts to support their writing, while developing their computing skills at the same time. We have been very impressed with the effort and creativity shown by 5D!

Black History Month

As part of Black History Month, Year 4 have been inspired by local athlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson, who grew up just down the road from our school. We explored her achievements, practised our note-taking skills and transformed our notes into creative artwork.

5D Hello Yellow Day 💛⭐️🌻

Today, 5D celebrated Hello Yellow Day by sharing compliments and making each other smile! Each child wrote a lovely compliment for a classmate and popped it into our compliment jar. Everyone received a thoughtful compliment, and the day ended with smiles all round! Perhaps the compliment jar should become a permanent fixture! 💛

5D PSHE

Our Emotional Needs

Today, 5D created their own characters and explored how they might act in different situations. The children worked incredibly hard and came up with some really thoughtful and insightful comments. I am very proud of the maturity they showed during this activity.
