Year 6 History
Year 6 identified the difference between Primary and Secondary sources during our history lesson this week. The sources were about the Slave Trade and the impact it had on people’s lives.
Big Friday Quiz
6B loved completing the Big Friday Quiz today- there was a lot of retrieval from within our year group as well as previous years!
6B Shadow Experiment
6B investigated how shadows change size depending on the distance from a light source.
Year 6 – Anfield – Diversity Workshop
This afternoon pupils from Year 6 went to Anfield to attend a Diversity Awareness Workshop. They asked some super questions and demonstrated a really inclusive attitude – we were really proud of them.
Year 6 KinBall
We sent a Year 6 team to compete in a KinBall competition last week and we came second! Well done everyone involved.
Year 6- Dogs Trust Assembly
Year 6 found the Dogs Trust assembly very beneficial, as it taught them how to approach a dog safely and what to do if an unknown dog approaches them.
6MR enjoying some live music
Today we enjoyed a concert from Resonate music, some great Latin vibes.
Year 6 DT Week- Making Pizza
6B enjoyed researching different types of pizzas, focusing on the nutritional values and of course the taste!
CO (Carbon Monoxide) safety assembly!
We learnt an important message today about Carbon Monoxide (otherwise known as CO) safety.
You can’t see it, hear it, smell it, taste it or touch it!
Homework task:
- Check if you have a CO alarm in your home!
- Make a note of the signs and symptoms to look out for and also the number to call if you suspect any CO in your home.
Year 6 – DT week
This week we have had great fun comparing, designing and making pizza.

6B planned and created their own pizzas, using skills such as kneading, chopping and mixing.
School Council meeting
Our school council were busy this morning, thinking of ideas for special rewards for reading at home and also for charities to donate to as part of our Social Impact Schools Award.
Year 6- Should we be proud of Liverpool’s past?
6B used a range of sources from the Slave Trade (both Primary and Secondary) to decide whether or not we should be proud of Liverpool’s history and it’s link with the Triangular Trading system.

6B enjoyed multiplication bingo and solving Magic Square problems in our parent session this morning!

Thank you to all parents who came to support our stay and learn today. Multiplication bingo and magic squares made for a fun maths morning.
LifeSavers
Its lovely to see our year 1 children saving money each week. Our year 6 cashiers are doing a great job.
Reading Cafe
Year 5 and 6 had a wonderful time at our reading cafe yesterday, as part of the National Literacy event. We enjoyed finding new books, having a biscuit and a drink and even being able to take that book home!
Year 6- Investigating angles
In Maths, Year 6 have been learning about vertically opposite angles equalling the same amount.
Boccia
These week we had a group of Key Stage 2 children take part in a Boccia competition.

6MR and 2S Reading Buddies- World Book Day
6MR have enjoyed reading with the children from 2S during our session today. Lots of stories were shared!
6B World Book Day- Reading Buddies
6B enjoyed our World Book Day Reading session with 2D this afternoon. Lots of lovely stories were shared in the school library!

6B enjoyed reading the reviews, written by children from across the world in Qatar, about their discovery narratives.

Year 6- Drawing shapes accurately
6B worked hard using a ruler and a protractor to measure and draw both angles and lengths accurately.
Neurodiversity Celebration Week
A huge thank you to Mr Boyd for hanging our neurodiversity umbrellas! Neurodiversity is an umbrella term used to refer to all of the different ways of thinking. This week the children are learning about Autism, Dyslexia, ADHD and Dyspraxia. Ask your child if they know any famous people who are neurodivergant!

Today, Class 6MR have been learning about dyspraxia and how it can impact individual children.
Year 6- PJ day raising money for Alder Hey Hospital
The Year 6 children loved coming to school today in their Pyjamas to help raise money for our chosen charity- Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.

6B have created outstanding narratives using dramatic vocabulary and specific punctuation techniques to create effect.
Year 6- Art work
6B enjoyed creating wild meadows scenes using different sketching techniques.
Year 6 Stay and Learn
6B loved our Science retrieval session focusing on previous learning from KS2. The children had to work together to plot specific bones and organs onto a life-size human body!
Y6 Stay and Learn
A huge thank you to all those parents who were able to support our Stay & Learn this morning. It was such fun! We had a science focus and children were able to plot organs and bones on the human body! Some interesting ideas and some very artistic parents as well!
HAPPY EASTER from Class 6MR
We have made Easter baskets out of 2D cube nets. Thankfully, the Easter bunny came with chocolate eggs! Lily brought me some real eggs from her chickens at home! Thank you, Lily x

Year 6 Play Leaders have been enjoying their time with KS1 this week, creating safe and exciting games at break times.

We worked with a partner to solve as many of the arithmetic questions we could find! A fun way to revise our mathematical strategies!

Year 6 choose to watch part of a film for well-being today after working really hard revising. We are all so proud of you!
Working Hard in Y6
The children have worked so hard and they remain very positive about next week’s assessments. Ruby-Mae is a natural, born teacher and has been helping others during break time.
We have had Quiet Place massage and some reading time for our well-being. Jack and Carter chose to read the weekly newspapers for!
Time Capsule
Jack brought in the time capsule that he made in Y4. It was great to open it and see what was inside!
SATs are completed!
We are unbelievably proud of our Year 6 children for absolutely smashing their Year 6 SATs this week! They have shown such maturity and resilience, but most of all, they have had fun! Well done Year 6!
