World Book Day 📚
We had lots of fun celebrating World Book Day📚 We did lots of fun activities, we read with our reading buddies and we even read a story in the den we built as a team.
We all made our book mark and read our favourite story the colour monster, as for World Book Day we focused on colours. We know now how to mix different colours to make new colours!

Year 5 – Exploring and responding to clues from the text
We began our new narrative in English today by immersing ourselves into the narrative, identifying what the clues told us and forming links between the objects and images. Then we made a prediction.

English- hook

Today we looked at the different items that introduce our new story. We then wrote a prediction about what we think our story is about using the items.

KS2 Author visit – Luke Temple
Luke shared his fantastic adventure stories with us this morning. The main character is called Felix Dashwood and Luke helped us to bring the characters to life and explore the problems that they come across.
We had a chance to ask Luke some great questions and see how the illustrator brings his characters to life too!
Signed books about Felix’s adventures and the characters she meets on her way, will be on sale in school tomorrow!

Author Visit
Such a lovely time today with our visiting Author Luke Temple. We listened carefully to different extracts from three of his books and asked a range of questions. Which book would you like to read in full?

The Storm Whale 🐋
Reception have been enjoying our English book The Storm Whale 🐋! We have been writing lots of sentences with the help of our story friends. Today Wise Owl helped us to use capital letters, full stops and finger spaces.

Meeting an author!
Some of us met the author Luke Temple and got our book signed.
We were also excited to find his stories in our library for us to choose for reading for pleasure.

Year One Writing
Super proud of Year One and their publishing skills. Amazing diary entries all about Erin wanting to save Black Rock!

Wolf Hunt – Year One
There’s a wolf on the loose. Have you seen a wolf? Eyewitness account from Mr Boyd and evidence of scratch marks, a red cloak and a bin bag.

Independent Writing✍️
This week we have been working on our independent writing. We have had lots of fun writing this week. We have wrote all about our creations, our amazing pictures and we have even wrote about our phonics friend Fred. We are super writers !

Reading for pleasure
Every Thursday, we bring our book bags into school and choose a new book to share with our family ❤️

English – A balanced argument
Our new writing focus is to write a balanced argument, where two sides of a debate are discussed in detail.
This morning, we researched gorillas and the positives and negatives of keeping them in captivity or the wild.
Then we attempted our first debate to gather ideas for our writing.

Ready Steady Write
Octopus Opening helps us to plan our writing. Using the planning circle we planned our very own opening to our story.

Author Zoom with Matt Goodfellow
We have really enjoyed reading Matt’s book- The Final Year. He tells the story through poetry and it was brilliant to see him talking about the book on our author zoom!
