Cross curricular writing!
This week, 5M have been developing their writing skills in French.



Y2 Spellings
2D have been learning the “dge” and “ge” spelling patterns by spelling them on each other’s backs and hands



Year 5 – Global partnership
5M are creating newsletters for children in Year 5 at United School International in Doha. They are sharing information about life at Stockton Wood and life in Liverpool. We can’t wait to find out about life in Qatar.


Analysing the text!
This morning, 5M discussed the writers knowledge, the structure and the language features of our example text in English.





Partnership Week – USI
It was lovely to share stories and examples of pupils writing with United School International this week. 1J Stockton Wood met 1D United School International.




Collaboration and communication in action!




5M helped each other to improve their writing by sharing ideas and giving feedback. Some used a dictionary to check difficult spellings.


Year 6- Should we be proud of Liverpool’s past?
6B used a range of sources from the Slave Trade (both Primary and Secondary) to decide whether or not we should be proud of Liverpool’s history and it’s link with the Triangular Trading system.

LGBT+ Awareness


As part of LGBT+ awareness week, we read a booked called ‘Introducing Teddy’. We discussed the story of gender and friendship. The children wrote letters to Tilly from Errol.

LGBTQ+ week
Today we read the story of ‘Pirate Mums’. As a class we discussed different types of families, we talked about families with 1 mum, 2 mums, a mum and a dad, 1 dad, 2 dads and how we are all different but we are still loved and cared for.


Making Predictions


In English, we’ve been making predictions about our new book. We look at items, read the notes in a jar, listened to an extract and looked closely at illustrations.

New books

We’ve started 2 news books in 4C. ‘The Lost Happy Endings’ by Carol Ann Duffy is our vehicle text in English and ‘The Lost thing’ by Shaun Tan is our class reader.

Special Delivery
Today, we had a special delivery from the with. She has assigned 4D with the task of writing a twisted ending for their favourite fairytale. We can’t wait to get started.



Year 2 English
We have received another top secret book! We made predictions on what we think the book will be about.


Year 6- Partnership School work
6B enjoyed reading the reviews, written by children from across the world in Qatar, about their discovery narratives.

Year 5 – Exploring and responding to clues from the text
We began our new narrative in English today by immersing ourselves into the narrative, identifying what the clues told us and forming links between the objects and images. Then we made a prediction.
