Clubs & Sport Activities
Physical Education at Stockton Wood
This term has been a really active one for our children here at Stockton Wood, with all children participating in a wide range of sports before, during and after school. Here is a little example of what we get up to…
Breakfast Clubs and Lunchtime Clubs Our breakfast clubs continue to be really popular with the children. They arrive early to school and can choose a variety of activities to participate in, including football games, hockey, basketball, netball and dodge ball. We also have lunchtime clubs which promote physical activity including Cross Country training and the ‘Daily Mile’.
The Curriculum Our P.E lessons each term ensure that the key skills and programmes of study within National Curriculum are taught. The children are making good progress in P.E. and weekly fitness and agility sessions help to develop the children’s fitness and stamina.
After School Clubs Our After School Clubs run through the year and include football. netball, gymnastics, multi skills and dance clubs supported by specialist coaches from Liverpool Schools Sports Partnership and ‘Everton FC in the Community’.
Our annual residential trip to PGL Boreatton Park for children in Year 5, is one they will never forget! During the week, both the children and the teachers are challenged to face their fears on many of PGL’s activities, as well as developing their team work skills through different challenges. Some of the highlights included kayaking, the giant swing, zip wire and ‘ambush’! The weather is often not perfect during our stay. However, the children never let this dampen their mood and enjoy memorable week!
